Project Overview

A London hotel put up the tallest Christmas tree in the city: a 67ft cone tree. The Christmas Decorators, a valued customer who has supported Ironworx from the very start, asked us to design and fabricate the steel frame and base that the whole tree is built on.

The Challenge

A tree this tall is a serious piece of structure. The frame had to hold the cone shape all the way to the top, carry the weight of the foliage and lights, and stay steady in a busy public space. The base had to spread that load safely. It also had to be made in sections that could be delivered into central London and put together on site.

Our Approach

We designed the frame and base around the shape and height of the tree, then fabricated them in our Little Hulton workshop. The steel was built in sections so it could be transported and assembled on site, with every connection checked before it left us.

Our team then helped with our part of the installation, working alongside The Christmas Decorators to get the frame up and ready for dressing.

The Result

London's tallest Christmas tree, standing 67ft. A big thank you to all of our team who helped with the fabrication and installation, and to The Christmas Decorators for their continued support.
